What Mac do I need to run Cozy?

Cozy requires:

  • macOS 14.0 or later
  • Approximately 200MB of free storage

All payments are processed securely through Apple's App Store. No ads, no tracking.

Using Cozy

How do I apply a theme?

It's simple, just one click:

  1. Open Cozy from your menu bar
  2. Browse available themes in the main window
  3. Click on a theme to preview it
  4. Click "Apply" to set both the wallpaper and folder icons

Can I customize a single folder?

Yes! Right-click any folder in Finder and use the Cozy extension to pick any icon from any theme you own. You can also drag any folder onto the Cozy menu bar icon to customize its icon.

Do wallpapers fit all screen sizes?

Yes! Each theme includes high-resolution wallpapers optimized for:

  • iMac 24" & 27" (full 4K/5K resolution)
  • MacBook Pro & Air (Retina resolution)
  • External displays (scales beautifully to any size)

Multiple monitors are supported automatically. Each screen gets the right wallpaper.

How do folder icons work?

When you first apply a theme, Cozy will ask for permission to access your Desktop folder. Just click "Grant Access" and select your Desktop. Cozy remembers this, so you only need to do it once.

Keyboard shortcuts

  • Esc → Select Finder → Relaunch: refresh folder icons
  • I: open icon picker to customize a folder

Troubleshooting

Folder icons aren't appearing. What should I do?

Try these solutions in order:

  1. Relaunch Finder: Press Esc, select Finder, click "Relaunch"
  2. Re-apply the theme: Open Cozy and click "Apply" again on your current theme
  3. Check permissions: Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders → ensure Cozy has Desktop access

If icons still don't appear after trying all steps, contact us for help.

I applied a theme but only some icons changed

This is normal. Finder sometimes caches old icons. Press Esc, select Finder, and click Relaunch to refresh.

I'm getting a permission request. Is this normal?

Yes! Cozy needs permission to access your Desktop folder (to apply folder icons) and set wallpapers. These are standard macOS security prompts. Cozy is sandboxed, notarized by Apple, and doesn't collect any personal data.

Do I need an internet connection?

Only for initial purchase and occasional purchase verification with Apple's servers. All themes are included in the app. Once installed, you can apply themes completely offline.

Purchases & Billing

Can I restore my purchases on a new Mac?

Yes! Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID:

  1. Install Cozy on your new Mac from the App Store
  2. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID
  3. Open Cozy. Your purchases are automatically restored

If themes don't restore automatically, click "Restore Purchases" in the app settings.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open System Settings on your Mac, go to your Apple ID, then Subscriptions. You can manage or cancel your Cozy weekly subscription there. You'll keep access until the current period ends.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Open your purchase history in your Apple ID settings, find the Cozy purchase, and submit a refund request.

How is my data protected?

Cozy is built with privacy as a core principle:

  • We don't collect any personal information
  • All themes are stored locally on your Mac
  • No analytics, no tracking, no ads

No worries! Use the form below to resend your download link. Just enter the email address you used at checkout and your order ID (starts with COZY-). You can request new links within 15 days of purchase. Past 15 days? Contact us at hi@cozyapp.app.
